Punjab is set to take a major step towards a greener and modern transport system with the launch of its first-ever electric taxi service. The government will make it easier for drivers to switch by offering interest-free, easy monthly installment plans for electric cars.
In a recent meeting chaired by Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan, officials discussed car models, pricing, maintenance, and the setup of charging stations across cities. The focus is on cutting fuel costs, reducing air pollution, and creating better earning opportunities for taxi drivers.
In the first phase, the government will provide 1,100 electric cars to drivers under simple and flexible plans. Advertisements for applications will be released soon.
