Pakistan is on the verge of entering a new digital era as telecom operators gear up to launch 5G services by July 2025. This development marks a major milestone in the country’s journey toward digital transformation and advanced connectivity.
According to details shared in Parliament, the process will begin in February 2025 when experts submit their recommendations to the Spectrum Advisory Committee. These will cover critical aspects such as spectrum pricing, trading frameworks, and tax policies ensuring that the industry is fully prepared for the shift to next-generation technology.

In March, the committee will finalize key reforms, after which the federal government is expected to approve the new policy directive in April. The much-anticipated auction of frequency bands, including 3500 MHz, 2600 MHz, 2300 MHz, and 700 MHz, is scheduled for May 2025.
The arrival of 5G is expected to revolutionize Pakistan’s digital landscape, delivering faster internet speeds, enabling innovation, and opening up economic opportunities in sectors like e-commerce, fintech, health, and education. For consumers, it promises smoother connectivity, while businesses will gain access to smarter, more reliable solutions.
With a clear timeline in place, the Ministry of IT and Telecom aims to position Pakistan among the leading countries adopting advanced technologies. The coming months will be crucial as the foundation is laid for a more connected, innovative, and digitally empowered future.
