YouTube has announced that it will remove its long-standing ‘Trending’ section, a feature that has highlighted the most popular videos worldwide since 2015. For nearly a decade, the Trending page gave users a quick snapshot of viral content across all categories. However, YouTube says viewing habits have evolved, and a single mixed list no longer reflects how people consume content today.

In its place, YouTube will now push ‘YouTube Charts’, which organizes trending content into categories such as music, podcasts, gaming, and movie trailers. This update will make it easier for users to discover what’s popular in their specific areas of interest. For gamers, trending content will also appear under the Gaming Explore page.
YouTube explained in a blog post that trends now come from diverse communities, so personalized charts are more relevant than one general list. The new change will start rolling out in the next two weeks, giving users a more customized and category-based way to explore what’s hot.
