Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day was celebrated in Auckland with a grand event that brought together nearly 1,000 members of the Pakistani community, along with New Zealand’s top leadership. The ceremony was graced by Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, Opposition Leader Chris Hipkins, and Pakistan’s High Commissioner to New Zealand, Faisal Aziz Ahmed, making it one of the most significant community gatherings of the year.
In his address, Prime Minister Luxon congratulated Pakistan on its Independence Day and highlighted the positive role of the Pakistani community in New Zealand’s progress. Another highlight of the evening was the launch of a new community website, designed to promote stronger connections within the Pakistani diaspora in New Zealand and showcase cultural and social initiatives.
