Swiss Deputy Head of Mission lauds Nestlé Pakistan’s Swiss heritage, contribution to Pakistan’s economy

Islamabad, Pakistan — The newly appointed Vice Head of Mission in the Swiss Embassy Mr. Laurent Cousinou, visited Nestle Pakistan’s Sheikhupura factory, and expressed appreciation for the company’s commitment to supporting the country’s growth in terms of economic development, renewable energy sources, and the sustainability plan.

On the occasion on the occasion, the Mr. Cousinou said: “Staying true to the company’s Swiss roots, it’s highly laudable the fact that Nestle Pakistan has led multiple initiatives over the last couple of years. The company’s export goal by 2030 and the investment in the amount of PKR 2 billion for sustainable energy, renewable energy and other initiatives demonstrate its dedication to the country’s economic growth and development .

In welcoming the ambassador, Faisal Nadeem, the Head of Technical at Nestle Pakistan, remarked: “We were delighted to receive the envoy, Mr. Laurent Cousinou. We appreciate his great interest in our activities. Since its founding over 35 years ago, Nestle Pakistan has remained determined to be a force in the good of its value chain, by increasing exports, improving sustainability, by investing in green energy to ensure an improved future.

Nestle is also strengthening its localization strategy by procuring over 90% of its packaging and raw materials locally, aiding and supporting Pakistan’s national sector.

In the context of its renewable energy investment that amount to PKR two billion Nestle is operating two solar power plants ranging from 2.5 milliwatts and 2.6 megawatts situated in Sheikhupura and Kabirwala as well as two biomass boilers as well as other solar projects across its locations. The efforts are in line with Nestle’s goal to lower emissions and attain Net Zero by 2050 in conformity to UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 13 (Climate Action) and 15 (Life on Land).

Four manufacturing facilities across the country as well as a wide range of drinks and foods, Nestle Pakistan continues to supply balanced, healthy and balanced meals for millions of people and is driving sustainable development as well as economic growth.
