Internship Program

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced the province’s first comprehensive veterinary internship program, designed to equip young veterinary professionals with practical skills while strengthening the livestock and dairy sectors.

According to an official handout issued on Saturday, the internship program carries an allocated budget of Rs. 600 million and will benefit 1,000 veterinary graduates and para-veterinarians across Punjab.

Under the initiative:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) graduates, recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 60,000.
  • Para-veterinarians and livestock assistants with a two-year Livestock Assistant Diploma (LAD) will receive Rs. 40,000 per month during their internship.
  • Interested candidates can apply via the official government job portal: www.jobs.punjab.gov.pk.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that special quotas had been reserved for Veterinary Assistants, AI Technicians, and Lab Assistants across all 36 districts of Punjab, ensuring equal opportunities for candidates from every region.

She emphasized that the program would provide hands-on training and field exposure for young professionals while extending animal healthcare and advisory services to farmers at their doorstep.

“The purpose of this initiative is to promote and develop livestock in Punjab, strengthen the dairy sector, and create a skilled workforce,” she stated.

Maryam Nawaz also underlined the broader economic benefits, noting that improved milk and meat production would raise farmers’ incomes while contributing to Pakistans foreign exchange reserves through higher exports.

“We want to take full advantage of Punjab’s livestock potential and make the province a hub of livestock and dairy development,” she added. “We stand with farmers today and will continue to support them in the future.”

With this initiative, the Punjab government aims to empower young veterinary professionals, uplift rural communities, and ensure sustainable growth in the livestock and dairy sector.
