The interruption began Monday night and spread across the country, affecting millions of internet users across important cities like Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad as well as Peshawar. During the downtime, users were experiencing major difficulties when accessing the internet, making calls as well as accessing digital services. Companies, offices and people who depended on internet platforms had to work hard to remain connected.

The disruption resulted in delay in working, communications gaps and interruptions of remote access services which led to widespread discontent. A lot of users took on social media to express their displeasure at the absence of the essential online tools.

IT and Telecom Minister Shaza Fatima confirmed that authorities are researching the underlying cause for the issue. She also stated that both government officials and the telecom operators collaborate closely in order to ensure that large-scale disruptions do not happen for the foreseeable future.
