Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday for a three-day official visit at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. At Nur Khan Airbase, he was warmly received with a traditional welcome, as children in cultural attire greeted him with flowers.

During his stay, Pakistan and China will hold the Sixth Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue, with a focus on enhancing cooperation in politics, economy, security, and regional connectivity.

Both sides are expected to deliberate on new trade opportunities and explore further expansion of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which is considered a cornerstone for regional development and Pakistan’s economic growth.

This visit also comes ahead of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s planned trip to Beijing later this month to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, highlighting the importance of back-to-back high-level exchanges.

Analysts say the visit will reinforce the long-standing partnership between the two countries. Strengthened cooperation across multiple sectors demonstrates the mutual commitment of Pakistan and China to move forward together in an evolving regional and global landscape.

Wang Yi’s presence in Islamabad once again underscores the “iron brothers” friendship, rooted in decades of political trust, economic collaboration, and cultural understanding.
